Immunization and Illness

INDIANA CODE 20-34-4-2 requires that all children entering elementary (K-12) school in the fall of 2024 will have received immunizations or have on file a current religious or medical waiver.

IC 20-34-4-5 requires the parents of a child enrolled in school to furnish, no later than the first day of school, a written statement of the child's immunizations. Please check your child's immunization record to make sure it is up-to-date. These records (or current religious or medical waiver) are to be given to your child's school nurse on the first day of school. If your child needs a required immunization, you may contact your child's doctor; the Vanderburgh County Health Dept. HOW LONG SHOULD MY CHILD STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL?
 
If my child is ill with:
•  FEVER: Stay home until fever-free for 24 hours (without the aid of fever reducing medication)

• DIARRHEA: Stay home until no diarrhea for 24 hours

• VOMITING: Stay home until no vomiting for 24 hours
